Since 1954, Lifehouse Agency has been helping people with developmental disabilities throughout the Bay Area. The organization works to improve their quality of life by providing compassionate support in an atmosphere of respect, inspiration and purpose.
Lifehouse’s Great Chef and Wineries event, held since 1990, is considered one of the premier, black-tie food and wine fundraisers in Marin, with a who’s who of restaurants and wineries taking part every year. This year, Great Chefs and Wineries was held virtually from April 3 to 17 with an online auction featuring an extensive selection of fine wines, one-of-a-kind local dining experiences and collections of art and jewelry from local artisans.
Lifehouse donors also had the opportunity to secure copies of a new exclusive cookbook featuring some of the best restaurants in the region. The cookbook included popular recipes from International Smoke, Waterbar, Poggio, Il Davide, Left Bank Brasserie, Insalatas, and more, with wine pairing suggestions from long-time winery supporters Pride Mountain Vineyards, Papapietro-Perry, Silver Oak, Thirty-Seven Wines, HALL and Frank Family Vineyards.
The fundraiser wrapped up with an online closing event toast with top sponsors, including Stuart Bryan of Pride Mountain Vineyards, longtime supporter and musician Huey Lewis and other Lifehouse Agency board members and community partners. Lifehouse participant Teodros sung John Lennon’s “Imagine” during the closing celebration.
Lewis served as honorary chair of this year’s event. He’s been involved with Lifehouse since the first Great Chefs and Wineries event began 32 years ago.
Funds raise will support Lifehouse’s programs for 360 individuals in Marin, Sonoma and San Francisco counties, including several living programs, a technology center, specialized autism services and the Great Expectations Preschool.
