Dust in Time – Del Sol Quartet on Angel Island

Del Sol Quartet will be performing Huang Ruo’s “A Dust in Time,” a powerful meditation for string quartet called by the NY Times as “excavations of beauty from the elemental.” The piece traces a meditative journey inspired by Tibetan Buddhist sand mandalas and will give the listeners space and time to meditate on the poetry inscribed by the Chinese immigrants who passed through the detention barracks.
There will be two performances: one at 11:30 am and one at 1:30 pm at the Angel Island Immigration Center’s Detention Barracks
The Angel Island Immigration Center will have a kids table available. Take a mandala coloring sheet and color along to the music or try your hand at making an instrument to play alongside the quartet.
