Ecomusicology: Exploring our Environment through Sound

$20.00The Music program at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church presents “Ecomusicology: Exploring our Environment through Sound” on Sunday, April 21 at 4pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3 Bayview Ave in Belvedere. The concert is presented in cooperation with the Estuary and Ocean Science Center in Tiburon (the Romberg Center), and proceeds from the concert will go towards the important work of the EOS center. Admission is by suggested freewill $20 donation; no advance tickets are necessary.
The concert, which centers around choral and instrumental music that relates to the environment, will include works by Handel, Telemann, Eric Whitacre, and Alex Berko, and the writings of Elisabeth Poston, Ogden Nash, Wendell Berry, John Muir, William Stafford, and Rabindranath Tagore. In addition to the St. Stephen’s choir and conductor and organist Brad Schultz, guest musicians include soprano Caroline Armitage, violinist Michael Grossman, cellist Miriam Perkoff, and pianist Paul Smith.
In addition, members of the EOS community will be on hand to share their research during a poster reception following the concert. A special sound installation, created by Acoustic Ecologists at the EOS center, will also be on hand.
