Maison Blanc Design is far more than just your average interior design studio. With a belief in designing spaces in which their clients can truly thrive, they aim to exceed your expectations and create meaningful and distinctive results. Borrowing from an array of influences, founder and principal Gabriella Coyne pieces styles together to create collected, contemporary, and timeless designs. Not to mention their online shop page, where they’ve done the work of curating a mix of cool yet sophisticated pieces that can round out the design of any space.
In this Larkspur family’s home, Maison Blanc’s intention was to focus the design scheme around family gatherings and to emphasize the joys of simple rituals. As a large-scale renovation project for a family of five, it was important to design a space that could grow with the kids and accommodate their changing needs over time.
Emphasizing the large open rooms that flowed so easily into one another was a must, as was incorporating indoor and outdoor living spaces throughout the home.
The family room extends seamlessly into the kitchen where a high-top counter with Serena and Lily stools divides the two spaces and makes for a homework space where the parents can keep an eye on the kids while they’re cooking.
As seen in the utilization of this large-scale banquette for the family’s breakfast nook, Maison Blanc Design created a casual space with maximum functionality that could accommodate all of the family members at one table together. A rounded table, rather than a long rectangular one, facilitates easy conversations from the kitchen and effortless circulation.
High-performance fabrics and dining chairs — both of which are easily wipeable — were a given, creating an elegant yet functional room where nothing is too precious should there be spills. Incorporating a mix of neutral CW Stockwell pillows along with simple Perennials pillows here helped to build a contemporary and timeless look.
Finally, by framing this space under a window boasting views of Marin’s rolling hills, their design pays tribute to the house’s gorgeous surroundings, emphasizing the sense of serenity that comes naturally to this hilltop haven.
