Sometimes a series of events unfolds so perfectly that you really start putting your faith in the stars. One of these winning combinations may be: rainy day, full season on Netflix ripe for binge watching, Grubhub credit, a warm body to cuddle with. Another (albeit more extra extravagant) version is: oysters, beer, live music, sunny day in the park. I know, sounds almost too good to be true, but this is a very real happening. Oysterfest — the largest oyster festival on the West Coast —is coming back to Golden Gate Park, bringing with it all the goodness we’ve come to expect.
Patrons will be able to enjoy oysters from farms throughout California and Baja, The Pacific Northwest, The Atlantic Northeast, and naturally, there'll be copious amounts of beer to wash it all down. The 16th annual event also reflects the Bay Area ethos with cooking demos and food vendors providing sustainably farmed local product. And then there’s the entertainment. Thievery Corporation, Grandmaster Flash, Warren G and other eclectic choices make up this year’s musical offerings, ensuring something for everyone.
On top of all of it, a shuck and suck contest is set to take place. I’m not sure exactly what that entails, but I’ll be there to find out.
