If you shop Rising International’s Holiday Global Marketplace at the Sausalito Woman’s Club this Friday afternoon, December 12th, you’ll be doing just that – empowering women around the world, giving them hope and dignity.
The event is from 4-7 p.m. and will offer a wide range of handmade crafts for everyone on your list (even your pets!): jewelry made by women in Nepal providing them with a living wage and decent working conditions; Nadera dolls made by Afghan widows; Yim scarves made by women in rural Cambodia injured by land mines; teddy bears knitted by women in Bosnia; Amano wrap bracelets made by Hmong artisans in Chang Mai; catnip mice made in Guatemala by women who have been abandoned by their husbands.
This international fair trade marketplace “pop-up” at the Sausalito Woman’s Club makes shopping meaningful and embodies the true spirit of Christmas, so don’t miss it. There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a no-host wine bar and you’ll get to meet Carmel Jud, the founder of Rising International who will be at the event. Gift wrapping will be also be available on site for a donation to the organization.
The Woman’s Club – a historic landmark designed by Julia Morgan — is located at 120 Central Avenue, Sausalito. Parking is limited so car pool as possible; there will be a free shuttle operating to and from Christ Church in Sausalito.
