San Rafael Parade of Lights and Winter Wonderland

San Rafael Parade of Lights and Winter Wonderland, Marin Magazine

Parades can be hit or miss, but if you look for the right stuff, the experience can be magical. My favorite memory of a parade is a cinematic one, from one of the most brilliant movies ever made, Drop Dead Gorgeous. But of course not every parade will have Amy Adams, Kirstie Alley, Denise Richards, Kirsten Dunst and a giant exploding swan float because life isn’t fair. Fortunately, there are redeeming parades out there, and the San Rafael Parade of Lights is one them. The parade centers on the San Rafael Canal and is one of Marin County’s most festive activities in addition to being one of the country’s largest on the water parades. Beyond the lighted boats, however, the Winter Wonderland will be featuring a Holiday Marketplace with unique arts and crafts, live entertainment, children’s activities, a snow-sledding hill, tree lighting ceremony, and the celebrated Parade of Lights with Santa and his friends — one of the largest holiday parades in the Bay Area. So come out and enjoy!
