Walk This Way

If you seek activities that offer enlightenment, check out Detour. Detours are a set of downloadable walking tours that take you (and up to three friends) on journeys on your own time through 10 San Francisco neighborhoods where locals and longtime residents offer insights. KQED is presenting three tours, one featuring a Marin fixture’s inside take on San Francisco’s most misconstrued neighborhood — the Haight. Peter Coyote will walk you from the site of Jimi Hendrix’s first San Francisco concerts to the parade route where Coyote and his pals declared the whole hippie scene dead and tried to bury it. Other Detours include the Tenderloin, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Beyond the Painted Ladies. detour.com

Kasia Pawlowska

Kasia Pawlowska loves words. A native of Poland, Kasia moved to the States when she was seven. The San Francisco State University creative writing graduate went on to write for publications like the San Francisco Bay Guardian and KQED Arts among others prior to joining the Marin Magazine staff. Topics Kasia has covered include travel, trends, mushroom hunting, an award-winning series on social media addiction and loads of other random things. When she’s not busy blogging or researching and writing articles, she’s either at home writing postcards and reading or going to shows. Recently, Kasia has been trying to branch out and diversify, ie: use different emojis. Her quest for the perfect chip is never-ending.
