Creative Writing and Map Making in Muir Woods

The park’s namesake, John Muir, once said, “This business of writing books is a long, tiresome, endless job.” I’m serious. It made me feel better about the work that I do. You must remember this is a man who traveled all around the world, landed on every continent except Antarctica, and promoted the establishment of five national parks. But yea, writing is intense. If you want to get a taste of this tiresome activity, join Rangers Amy and Laura this Saturday. Spend the afternoon exploring Muir Woods and plan to do some creative writing and map-making activities while making a deep inquiry into the relationship between place and you, you and place, and into how climate change impacts our connections to the places we live and the places we love. Workshop limited to ten people, ages 15 and up. Reservations are required. Call 415.388.2596 to register and for more information.

Kasia Pawlowska loves words. A native of Poland, Kasia moved to the States when she was seven. The San Francisco State University creative writing graduate went on to write for publications like the San Francisco Bay Guardian and KQED Arts among others prior to joining the Marin Magazine staff. Topics Kasia has covered include travel, trends, mushroom hunting, an award-winning series on social media addiction and loads of other random things. When she’s not busy blogging or researching and writing articles, she’s either at home writing postcards and reading or going to shows. Recently, Kasia has been trying to branch out and diversify, ie: use different emojis. Her quest for the perfect chip is never-ending.
