Explore Art Aplenty at the 37th Annual Sonoma County Art Trails

Art Trails Sonoma

What would art be without the viewer?

It’s a question that 116 Sonoma County Art Trail artists take to heart as they welcome visitors to their working spaces for the 37th annual Sonoma County Art Trails Open Studios 2022, a program of the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. Reviving connections with art enthusiasts, collectors and fellow artists provides a truly unique intersection between visitors gaining insight into the artist’s inspiration and practice, and the artist gaining insight into those who enjoy and support their art.

Follow the Big Blue Signs

Visitors can curate their own art experience as they roam scenic Sonoma County with the help of the big blue signs and the free catalog, available online at SonomaCountyArtTrails.org as well as in print. Beautiful Sonoma County wine country — a place where a thriving artist community, superb cuisine and world-renowned wineries intertwine — is a natural pairing for creative expression, and it’s on full display as a uniquely Sonoma County art experience of impressive works. The art, created by world-class, juried talent, includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, digital and fiber art, glass, woodworking, jewelry, printmaking, mixed media, photography and ceramics.

Stories to Tell

Art transcends language and is not bound by one interpretation. And while an artwork may stand alone, the artists’ stories are interconnected by a common thread: perseverance. Through wildfires, floods, drought and a pandemic, Sonoma County artists have victoriously overcome obstacles and challenges to bring their art forward into the world and share their unique insights. A sculpture named “Renewal” is a perfect symbol of this perseverance. “Renewal” was created collaboratively with the intention of paying it forward and supporting young Sonoma County artists. “Renewal” will be raffled, with the proceeds going directly to ArtStart, an award-winning nonprofit which empowers teens to explore their creativity. “Renewal” will be on display at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. Raffle tickets are $25 each.

Additionally, there will be a preview exhibit at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, where every artist will have one representative artwork available. The center is committed to cultivating creativity and inspiring appreciation for the transformative power of art.
