Producer, composer, keyboardist and vocalist, Sergio Mendes is one of the most internationally-successful jazz artists of all time, with his signature mix of bossa nova and samba defining Brazilian music. His hit single, “Mas Que Nada,” was the first Portuguese language song to hit Billboard’s U.S. Pop chart. A career spanning six decades, his enduring influence on the music industry continues to evolve.
His career is highlighted in new documentary film from director John Scheinfeld In The Key Of Joy, presented by Sonoma International Film Festival on Thursday, July 7 at 6:15 p.m. at the Sebastiani Theatre in Sonoma. Both Mendes and Scheinfeld will be in attendance for the screening and participating in a post film discussion with SIFF Artistic Director Kevin W. McNeely.
