"Best of Show" winner Santiago Michalek
This past weekend was a resounding success for the Sausalito Art Festival, with everyone enjoying a great line-up of artists, musicians, wineries, breweries and gourmet food along the scenic waterfront. Without data to back me up, it seemed like the lines were much longer to get in this year. The festival tried out a new layout, along with later start and end times. Whatever the magical combination – it worked.
The weather cooperated, with sun shining down on over 260 artists from around the world and great musical acts, including Taj Mahal, Tower of Power, Jackie Greene, and Danny Click, and Tommy Castro & The Painkillers, amongst others. Over 30 premium California wines and the new Stella Artois Beer Garden were hits with festivalgoers, and 12 local non-profits provided delicious gourmet food.
Proceeds from the festival benefit the local arts community and provides student scholarships, grants to other non-profit arts organizations and community service programs totaling over $500,000 donated in the past ten years.
We will look forward to next year’s festival. In the meantime, be sure to take advantage of all the great art galleries and live music venues we enjoy here in Marin.
