From rent and security deposits to holiday gifts and car repair, Adopt A Family of Marin helps stretch a family’s resources, providing a safety net for when life throws everything at you. Providing families short-term loans and other services helps support the group’s larger goal of preventing homelessness in our county.

Osher Marin JCC 70th Anniversary Gala
Celebrating the center’s post–World War II founding in 1948 in San Rafael called for a bash to remember. A strolling dinner of small plates like chicken lettuce cups, tuna tartare and frozen truffle pops gave attendees the chance to mingle with more than a few tablemates and meet honorees Barbro Osher and Rabbi Brian Lurie, pivotal creators of today’s center, face to face.

Mill Valley mom Lily Kanter co-founded home furnishings and design firm Serena & Lily before launching Boon Supply. An online retail concept, Boon Supply gives back to participating nonprofits when you shop. Forty percent of all sales proceeds are donated to nonprofit partners and local school fundraising outfits like Kiddo! in Mill Valley and Brandeis Marin in San Rafael.

Hosting a celebration under the big top at the site of the Marin County Fair really does take fundraising to a new place, one where kids, parents and other community members unite to support Marin’s schools. This partnership of Marin’s public school foundations with the Marin County Office of Education held its seventh such event, Step Right Up, in July.
