Park & Dine in San Francisco

Local author Kimberley Lovato shares five top places featured in her new book Unique Eats and Eateries of San Francisco that also happen to have easy parking options, onsite or close by.

Beach Chalet & Brewery

The upscale dining room overlooks the Great Highway and Ocean Beach, while the more casual brewery in back opens to Golden Gate Park. It also has its own parking lot and some street parking nearby.

Greens

This groundbreaking vegetarian restaurant was founded by the San Francisco Zen Center more than 30 years ago but acclaimed chef Annie Somerville, still in the kitchen, brought the award-winning cuisine main stream. With a prime position in Fort Mason (book a window table for Golden Gate Bridge Views), Greens has ample parking.

Fior d’Italia

North Beach is notoriously a parking nightmare. But valet parking for dinner guests and a public parking garage just a block away turn a night out into a dream. Located at the bottom of the San Remo Hotel, a building constructed by the founder of Bank of America, Fior d’Italia also happens to be the oldest Italian restaurant in the U.S.A., reason enough to bring your out of town guests.

Red’s Java House

The super casual hut on The Embarcadero has been a favorite haunt since it first opened as Franco’s Lunch and served San Francisco’s longshoremen in the ‘30s. These days, the burger and beer crowd covet the back patio overlooking the Bay Bridge and a massive paid parking lot, open to anyone.

Presidio Picnic by Off the Grid / Presidio Trust

The popular food truck gathering in the stunning Presidio invites dozens of the city’s tastiest chuck wagons to roll in on Sundays from mid-March through October. Bring the family and dog, listen to live entertainment, and eat your way through the day. Parking is wide open in the myriad parking lots and street spots.
