Coveted membership in the Sausalito Woman’s Club can often take 2-3 years to attain; it is in fact one of the only woman’s clubs in the country with such a waiting list. Getting to see the private club, which is housed in a beautiful, historic landmark, Julia Morgan building in the scenic hills of Sausalito, can be just as challenging. It is seldom open to the public.
But on Saturday, September 27th, 3-7 p.m., the gorgeous club and garden will be open to the public for a special event — the Sausalito Woman’s Club Preservation Society is hosting a Harvest Festival & Market which promises to be as special as the location.
A celebration of the Bay Area’s regional bounty, the event will feature professional culinary demonstrations by Williams Sonoma, as well as local artisan food purveyors and vintners. McEvoy Ranch Bath Products, California Caviar, Drivers Market, Amphora Nueva Olive Oil, Madrigal Winery and Enchante Macarons are just a few of the merchants who will be offering samples of their wares and favorite delicacies for purchase.
There will also be a small art show at the event showcasing the work of numerous well-known California artists, as well as a silent auction and a “Preservation Pantry” with gifts for purchase. Jazz chanteuse Francesca Lee will perform, and appetizers, wine and other refreshments will be available.
The price per person for this delightful event is $40 and advance ticket purchase is recommended as this savory autumn event is likely to sell out. Proceeds from the festival benefit the non-profit Sausalito Woman’s Club Preservation Society. Tickets and more information.
About the Sausalito Woman’s Club
One of the oldest woman’s club’s in the country, the Sausalito Woman’s Club is a private organization with 325 active members who, in addition to historical preservation, are dedicated to community service and raising scholarship funds for deserving young women. Designed by Julia Morgan, the 100-year old clubhouse building was an America Institute of Architects Gold Medal Winner in 2014. Julia Morgan is the architect best known for designing Hearst Castle in San Simeon as well as the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.
